Tournament Rules/Regulations (As of May 2nd)

*If you just want to read the important stuff then just look at the BOLD notes.*

Team Size:
A team roster can include as many as 10 people, but obviously only five are allowed to play at one time.

Games Reporting Time
Team captains should decide on a time that is convenient for both of them.  In the event that the game cannot be played as planned, the teams should make sure they play the game as soon as possible.  The deadline for matches, both group and bracket, should be strictly followed.

Minimum Players
A team must start the game with 5 players.  In the event of a drop or disconnect refer to 'drops and disconnects' below.

Match Validation

At the end of the match a player from the winning team must submit a replay to hkdota@gmail.com. Failure to do so will result in the game being voided and no winner being declared for that game.  Include the teams and the date of the game.  Any interesting comments/screenshot are also welcome.

Gaming Medium
All games MUST be played with GGClient, also known as GArena.  GArena is a free third party platform which provides a hack-free, lag-free near perfect gaming experience.  The official room for the tournament is the Hong Kong DotA Room 01.

In game rules
The following is the tournament's official policy on the following commonly disputed techniques:

Backdooring:
1.) As soon as a barracks or a tower is in the health range to be denied it may be attacked regardless of any of the following rules.  (Below 10% of the tower's full hp, 130 HP for some and 160HP for others)
2.) Towers may only be attacked if an allied creep is in attack range of the tower (eg. 700 range)
3.) Barracks may only be attacked when allied creeps have entered the base (are on the ledge).
4.) Misc. buildings that don't have further impact on the game may be attacked with, or without creeps.
5.) When you have entered the base with creeps, you are free to attack every building inside the base. (Including other lanes)
6.) You can continue attacking buildings even when the creeps have died.

Shared Unit Control: Allowed

Team Chickens/Crows: Allowed

Item Sharing: Only basic regeneration items and consumables are allowed to be shared.  Items shared must be returned in a timely manner and may not be kept or used for any other purpose (eg. you cannot form an Eules using your partner's void stone that you borrowed/you cannot sell your teammate's clarity potions).  The following items may be exchanged for a bit:
1.) Sentry Wards
2.) Observer Wards
3.) Scroll of Teleportation
4.) Clarity Potion
5.) Flask of Sapphire Water
6.) Chicken Recipe
7.) Crow Recipe
8.) Crow Mana Upgrade Recipe
9.) Ring of Regeneration
10.) Ring of Health
11.) Sobi Mask
12.) Void Stone
13.) Ancient Tango of Essifation
14.) Gem of Truesight
15.) Bottle

Divine Rapier/Aegis Rules:  As of 6.42 the Divine Rapier can be moved around, however you cannot move the rapier around your team as this is pooling.  You can move the Aegis of the Immortal around your team.

Item Restrictions: The following item restrictions will be in place during the tournament:
1.) Max 2 Mekansm
2.) Max 2 Necronomicon
3.) Max 1 Refresher Orb
4.) Max 1 Arcane Ring
5.) In total Max 3 Euls/Guinsoos

If the item limit has been reached, you must sell or destroy the item(s).

Other In game Notes:  Each member of your team should have a prefix, suffix or tag that easily identifies their team or clan. (eg. Blitz-UST, ABC.Arfy, xxx [RM] ect.)  Profanity and foul language should be kept to a minimum.  Overall fair sportsmanship and general decency should be maintained.

Game Mode

All of the tournament games will be played in -apxl draft mode.  Team captains are required to do bans/picks in the chat channel before the game.  The game mode actually imputed is -ap, since the bans/picks have already been done.

Game Map

The latest version, which is currently 6.52, will be used.  As new versions come out, the league will use that instead of 6.52

Pick Order and Sentinel/Scourge

Before each game a coin will be flipped by the referee.  The winner of the toss can choose either to play as the Sentinel or the Scourge OR Ban/Pick First.

Hero Ban/Pick Process

The team who picks first, also bans first.  The bans are 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1, and the picks are 1-2-2-2-2-1.

A sample draft:

Team 1 Bans: Beastmaster
Team 2 Bans: Nerubian Assassin
Team 1 Bans: Warlock
Team 2 Bans: Magnataur
Team 1 Bans: Queen of Pain
Team 2 Bans: Priestess of the Moon
Team 1 Bans: Treant Protector
Team 2 Bans: Silencer

Team 1 Selects: Zeus
Team 2 Selects: Lina/Sven
Team 1 Selects: Sandking/Tormented Soul
Team 2 Selects: Nevermore/Puck
Team 1 Selects: Viper/Vengeful Spirit
Team 2 Selects: Tiny

Pausing

Each team is allowed three timeouts lasting 60 seconds and one timeout of up to 180 seconds.  Time will be kept by the referees.  In order to call a timeout, announce in all chat that you wish to do so, anyone from a team can do this (it doesn't have to be the team captain).

Disconnections (Adopted from MYM Pride 10 Rules) *NEW 27/4*

Teams are persuaded to save their games periodically during a match to compensate for any disconnections.
Teams may save the game at any point by asking a referee, or doing it themselves if no referee is present.  If there are any disconnections before first blood the match is required to restart.  If a player disconnects and a saved game has not been made within the last 15 minutes, then the match will continue without the disconnected player.  If a saved game has been made in the last 15 minutes and one team has killed +5 more heroes than the other team then the disconnection advantage goes to the first team.  Heroes count as one point, towers count as 3 points and barracks count as 5 points, Aegis deaths count as .5 deaths.  The team with the advantage can choose to continue or to remake.  If neither team has +5 more kills than the other team, then the referee shall make the final decision if the players cannot reach a consensus.  If the same player disconnects more than three times, the other team may choose to continue the match without him.  Teams are allowed to use the disconnected hero, however the items must be kept on the hero, or sold directly from the hero so the gold is distributed evenly among the team.

Forfeits

After 20 minutes, a team can choose to forfeit.  The team captain (or secondary captain if the captain is not present) should announce in all chat that they want to forfeit.  The opposing team must accept the forfeit.
